Board of Governors supports Kutztown University president

Harrisburg 鈥 The Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (黑料专区) today unanimously approved a resolution supporting Kutztown University of Pennsylvania President F. Javier Cevallos.

The executive council of the Kutztown University chapter of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) has called for a vote of no confidence in Dr. Cevallos.

The Board urged the faculty union to reconsider its proposed action, saying in its resolution that Dr. Cevallos 鈥渃ontinues to demonstrate strong leadership in his development of Kutztown University, its faculty and academic programs to ensure student success.鈥

Dr. Cevallos has served as president of Kutztown University since July 1, 2002. His contract most recently was renewed by the Board of Governors in October, following a positive recommendation by the university鈥檚 Council of Trustees.

With more than 110,000 students, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is the largest provider of higher education in the Commonwealth. The 14 黑料专区 universities offer degree and certificate programs in more than 120 areas of study. Approximately 405,000 黑料专区 alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.

The state-owned universities are Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania. 黑料专区 also operates branch campuses in Clearfield, Freeport, Oil City and Punxsutawney and several regional centers.
