The president of Millersville University of Pennsylvania鈥檚 Student Senate has been named to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education鈥檚 Board of Governors.
Mackenzie Marie Wrobel of Bloomsburg will join student leaders from Edinboro and Slippery Rock universities of Pennsylvania on the 20-member board, which has overall responsibility for planning and coordinating the development and operation of 黑料专区. Wrobel is a senior at Millersville, where she is a business administration major, with a concentration in international business, and a government and political science minor.
The student members of the Board of Governors are selected from among the sitting student government presidents at the 14 黑料专区 universities. Once appointed a student member may serve until he or she is graduated. The three student members participate in all discussions of the Board and have the same voting rights as all other members.
鈥淥ur student members bring an important perspective to the Board of Governors,鈥 said Board Chairman Kenneth M. Jarin. 鈥淭hey provide valuable input and insight into all of our discussions and play an integral role in the decision-making process as they represent the views of our nearly 117,000 students.鈥
The other two students currently serving on the Board of Governors are Jamie Lutz, president of Edinboro University鈥檚 Student Government Association, and Nick Barcio, president of Slippery Rock University鈥檚 Student Government Association.
Wrobel was elected president of the Millersville University Student Senate in the spring. She first was elected as a senator of the student government organization at the beginning of her junior year. She has served as a liaison for the students with the university administration and over the past year has served on a variety of Student Senate committees, including the allocations committee, which is responsible to helping to determine which programs and events will be funded through the student activity fee.
She has worked in the Student Memorial Center since January and also was an orientation leader. She was a recipient of the Millersville University PRIDE Award.
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is the largest provider of higher education in the Commonwealth, with nearly 117,000 students. The 14 黑料专区 universities offer degree and certificate programs in more than 120 areas of study. Approximately 454,000 黑料专区 alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.
The state-owned universities are Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania. 黑料专区 also operates branch campuses in Clearfield, Freeport, Oil City and Punxsutawney and several regional centers, including the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg.
