When Jessica Cochran arrived at , she couldn鈥檛 have predicted the future that awaited her. She chose IUP for its wide range of options, giving her the chance to explore and find her own way. She also wanted to join a college swim team, and the IUP coaching staff invited her to join the roster. What she found upon arriving at IUP in 2016 was a supportive community that helped her shape a career she hadn't even considered before.
Career Readiness
Abigail Hancox, a 2024 graduate of , is pursuing dual master鈥檚 degrees in public affairs and student affairs in higher education at IUP and was recently selected to serve on the 黑料专区 Foundation Board of Directors. She is one of only two students in 黑料专区 and one of only three United States representatives in the latest cohort of Women Emerging, a global leadership platform.

IUP provides more than $6 million annually in graduate student scholarships, graduate assistantships, teaching associateships, and funds to support graduate student research grants, professional development, and presentation of original scholarship at scholarly conferences.
滨鲍笔鈥檚 National Achievement Scholarships Office helps undergraduate and graduate students apply and get selected to some of the nation鈥檚 most prestigious scholarships and fellowships. IUP students have won a total of 19 Fulbright awards, 12 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships, 21 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships, and 10 Freeman-Asia study abroad awards.
IUP is one of only 93 public universities in the nation and one of only six in Pennsylvania designated as a鈥淗igh Research Activity鈥 (R2) universityby the American Council on Education. During the 2020鈥21 academic year, IUP received $11 million for research initiatives.
Consistently ranked nationally as a "Best for Vets" university, a "Military Friendly School," a 鈥淏est for Military Spouses鈥 school and serving as a Yellow Ribbon university, IUP is also home to an ROTC program that has produced 2,000 U.S. Army second lieutenants and eight generals, along with the 2009 ROTC Top Cadet in the Nation.
IUP has been included Princeton Review's Best Colleges guidebook for more than 20 years, based on students telling guidebook editors that the university is a place of 鈥渢ruly stellar academic departments鈥 and 鈥淧rofessors feel like family and express that they genuinely care about the students outside of just the classroom situation.鈥 IUP is also listed in Forbes Magazine as a top college and Money Magazine鈥檚 鈥淏est College for You鈥 list.
