Commonwealth University - Mansfield

Interim President

Logan Smedley of Watsontown, PA, exemplifies Commonwealth University鈥檚 immediate impact
in addressing Pennsylvania鈥檚 urgent workforce needs.
This past November, Smedley completed the intensive Act 120 training at CU鈥檚 Municipal
Police Academy in Mansfield. He was one of several cadets who received an employment
offer before graduating from the Police Academy and is now a full-time officer with
the Wellsboro Police Department.
鈥淚t was probably one of the best experiences of my life. To be honest, the effort
and passion that all of our instructors put into teaching us was incredible,鈥 said
Smedley.
Commonwealth University is the only institution in Pennsylvania that integrates a
Police Academy into its academic curriculum. Students at the Bloomsburg, Lock Haven,
and Mansfield campuses of CU can earn either an associate or bachelor鈥檚 degree in
criminal justice while also completing the Act 120 requirements to become municipal
police officers.
